The first and only corn dryer in Deir Ezzor saves crops from spoilage
In the village of Al-Tubneh in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor Governorate, after completing the installation and operation of the corn dryer, which was implemented by GOPA-DERD’s team , in cooperation with WFP, farmers and villagers can now invest in the entire yellow corn crop and benefit from it in various ways, after the damage to this crop was great due to weather influences,, humidity and dust, in addition to primitive methods in drying crops, which used by the farmers and lead to the spoilage of a large percentage of them.
The mechanism of the corn dryer depends on heating the air and not direct contact between the fire and the corn to be dried, which contributes to preserving the quality of the corn.
It is worth noting that the corn dryer is the first and only of its kind in Deir Ezzor, and provides benefit to more than 4,000 families in drying a crop estimated at 5,000 tons of yellow corn, and also contributes to serving farmers in this agricultural area, and reducing the great damage that affects the yellow corn season.
