World Youth Skills Day
On the World Youth Skills Day, GOPA-DERD’s team implemented various activities in a number of areas.
In Tartous, GOPA-DERD’s “Hand-in-Hand” project’s team in Sheikh Saad implemented a youth initiative for adolescents that included a set of workshops and topics that aim to empower them and provide them with opportunities to enter the labor market. In addition, a one-day workshop in one of their fields of interest was provided. This was followed by an open-day activity through which adolescents expressed their impressions and the extent of the benefit from these activities.
GOPA-DERD’s team in Tartous also carried out a set of activities and awareness sessions in the villages of Al-Sawda, Al-Naama and the city, which included training courses and dialogue sessions. This took place in cooperation with UNICEF.
With the aim of enhancing the youth skills and increasing effective communication, GOPA-DERD’s “PEERS” Center’s team organized a football match for a group of youth in an atmosphere of competition and fun. This took place in Tartous, in cooperation with Caritas Austria.
In Homs, more than 84 young men and women participated in various activities implemented by GOPA-DERD’s “PLACE” Center’s team in Wadi al-Nasara, where the activities highlighted the importance of developing youth skills. In addition, an interactive theatrical performance was implemented. This took place in cooperation with Tearfund.
In Hama, and with the participation of a number of young people between the ages of 18 and 35, GOPA-DERD’s team carried out a recreational activity in the city of Mahardah with the aim of enhancing and supporting the skills of young people.
Based on the slogan “Digital Paths for Sustainable Development, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Al Haffah, Latakia, implemented a recreational and awareness activity that included several stages that illustrated the concepts of skills, ability, and knowledge of the participants.
GOPA-DERD’s team in Aleppo also implemented various activities for young people in Sheikh Khader and Sheikh Fares neighborhoods, including organizing a football match and some physical games.
