The Water Canal in Mazloum Village ... Promoting and Sustaining Agricultural Production
More than 3,800 dunums of farmland will receive water and 680 families will benefit from the water canal project implemented by GOPA-DERD’s team, with support from SHF, in the village of Mazloum, in Deir ez-Zor Governorate.
The project included the construction of a 450-meter-long reinforced concrete box culvert, in addition to the preparation and cleaning of a 9,000-meter-long irrigation canal.
This canal allowing irrigation water to reach the agricultural lands within the village, which in turn will contribute to improving the income of the beneficiaries and stabilizing the prices of agricultural products in the area.
After suffering due to the long distance between their farmland and irrigation sources, a number of residents and farmers emphasized the great importance of this canal, which will help deliver irrigation water to a larger area of farmland, thus saving them some additional costs and helping to increase crop production.
