Rights, Equality, and Empowerment... some of the activities and campaigns titles in International Women's Day
Under the slogan “For All Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” and on the occasion of International Women’s Day, GOPA-DERD’s team implemented a set of various activities and awareness sessions in several areas.
In Damascus, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Al-Duwaila implemented a recreational activity aimed at enhancing the role of women in society by highlighting the achievements of a number of women who have influenced society and civilizations on various scientific and literary levels.
In As-Sweida, the team implemented a series of various activities for more than 120 women, including awareness sessions on gender equality, an interactive activity on women’s rights and their impact on societies. In addition, a theatrical performance was implemented to illustrates the role of women throughout history.
As part of the series of activities, the team also implemented an interactive activity that included a number of women who faced many challenges and difficulties during their lives and were able to overcome them.
In Daraa, with the aim of highlighting on women’s rights and their significant and effective role in society, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team implemented a number of recreational activities and awareness sessions for a group of women. In addition, a legal session was carried out to focus on women’s rights. This took place in cooperation with UNHCR.
In turn, GOPA-DERD’s “Dream” Center’s team in both Al-Hasakah and Qamishli implemented a series of various activities and awareness sessions on activating the role of women in sustainable societies and empowering their decision-making capacity. This took place in cooperation with IOCC.
In Raqqa, GOPA-DERD’s “Darb” Center’s team implemented a set of awareness-raising and recreational activities for women and girls on women’s empowerment.
GOPA-DERD’s “Darb” Center’s team in Al-Maliha, Rural Damascus, implemented various activities that included handicrafts and an awareness session on the role of women in society.
In Al-Qusayr, Homs, the team implemented various activity for more than 37 women, which included a theatrical performance, a video presentation about the role of women and their impact on society. In addition, an awareness session was implemented about the basics of personal hygiene.
Young girls from the “Girls’ Shine” program also participated in the activities through some supportive messages that they addressed to the participating women and presented them with bouquets of flowers that they made.
The activity concluded with the distribution of personal dignity kits to the participating women.
In the villages of Al-Shumaytiyah, Harabesh and Marat in Deir Ezzor, GOPA-DERD’s “Darb” Center’s team implemented various activities, including dialogue sessions, recreational activities and theatrical performances about the importance of the role of women in societies. This took place in cooperation with UNFPA.
GOPA-DERD’s team in Deir Ezzor, in cooperation with SHF, implemented an awareness session on women’s rights, duties and importance in society.
In Hama, GOPA-DERD’s team implemented a recreational activity for a group of women, which included an awareness session, a theatrical performance, and handicrafts on the necessity of self-care .for women, and the importance of empowering them in societies
In Aleppo, GOPA-DERD’s team carried out recreational activity, which included a theatrical performance, candles handicrafts, and a video presentation about some influential women in society and their work.
GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Sheikh Khader also implemented a series of sessions that included various activities and crafts aimed at raising awareness of International Women’s Day. In addition, a legal session to talk about women’s rights presented by a lawyer, was carried out.
