On the International Day of Peace... initiatives and various activities.

On the occasion of International Day of Peace, GOPA-DERD’s team implemented various activities in different areas.

In Tartous, both of GOPA-DERD’s “Hand in Hand” project’s team and GOPA-DERD’s “PEERS” team implemented a recreational initiative for a number of adolescents and people with special needs in Al-Sheikh Saad area. The initiative included various sports games with the aim of encouraging the practice of sports for peace. In addition, a dancing segments of folk art was implemented. This took place in cooperation with UNICEF and Caritas Austria.

In Al-Hasakah, GOPA-DERD’s “Dream” Centre’s team implemented recreational activities and physical games for more than 50 children, in cooperation with IOCC in Al-Qamishli.

GOPA-DERD’s “SPACE” Center’s team in Deir ez-Zour conducted a group of various activities in the village of Al-Masrab in the western countryside of the governorate. The activities included recreational and educational activities about peace and its importance. In addition, a football match for a group of young athletes in the village was organized. This took place in cooperation with DKH.

In Aleppo, GOPA-DERD’s team implemented an open day activity for a number of families with the aim of strengthening the values of family ties. The team also implemented a group of various interactive activities, including a theatrical performance, competitions and an interactive activity using clay to help express and release feelings, in cooperation with MECC.

In a related context, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Al-Haffa, Lattakia, organized a recreational activity for a number of women. The activity included several stages during which they got to know international famous people who called for peace around the world. In addition, expressive messages that the women addressed to for the sake of peace.

GOPA- DERD’s team in As-Suwayda also implemented various activities for more than 42 children, including introducing the concept of peace. In addition, many purposeful recreational and interactive activities were implemented.
