GOPA-DERD’s team continues humanitarian work throughout the Syrian geography
GOPA-DERD’s team continues to implement various activities within the projects and programs implemented throughout the Syrian geography.
In Deir Ezzor, the team implemented a cleaning campaign that included the Tarbiya and Hamoud Al-Abd roundabouts, and the street connecting them.
On the occasion of the International Volunteer Day, GOPA-DERD’s “Darb” Center’s team in Deir Ezzor, implemented an activity for university students with special needs at Al-Furat University, to emphasize the strength of the human being and his ability to positively influence society. This took place in cooperation with UNFPA.
GOPA-DERD’s team in Deir Ezzor also organized various awareness activities in conjunction with the 16-day of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign, in the city of Deir Ezzor and its Rural area. This took place in cooperation with UNFPA and DKH.
In Aleppo, GOPA-DERD’s “SPACE” Center’s team in Qadi Askar, implemented an initiative to visit the residents of the neighborhood and provide them with small water bottles, as a rapid response to the interruption of drinking water in the area. This took place in cooperation with DKH.
In Daraa, GOPA-DERD’s team implemented a volunteer campaign to clean some neighborhoods in the city, and a blood donation campaign for the blood bank, in the framework of supporting humanitarian work and enhancing the spirit of solidarity.
With the aim of shedding light on Gender-based Violence and over a period of 16 days, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Daraa and its Rural area, implemented various recreational and awareness activities.
GOPA-DERD’s “Baituna” Center’s team in Daraa, organized an open day for more than 250 female students at Al-Mahta Girls’ High School, in cooperation with NCA.
In As-Sweida, GOPA-DERD’s team organized a blood donation campaign for the National Hospital. On the occasion of International Volunteer Day, GOPA-DERD’s ORV team implemented a training course for girls with disabilities, including deaf and dumb, physical disabilities and learning difficulties. The course included making accessories and field visits to a specialized workshop to gain practical experience. The course concluded with participation in the bazaar for the16-day of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign.
In conjunction with this campaign, the team in As-Sweida implemented a series of various recreational activities and a bazaar entitled “Made with Love”, with the participation of more than 40 women. This took place in cooperation with UNHCR.
In Al-Maliha, Rural Damascus, GOPA-DERD’s “Darb” Center’s team, in cooperation with UNFPA, implemented an awareness-raising activity to identify violence and how to reduce it, in addition, an activity to plant green “hope” plants was implemented in the center’s garden, and a recreational activity that included making candles in different forms was implemented, for the purpose of psychosocial relief.
In Lattakia, coinciding with the 16-day of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Daatour, implemented a recreational activity for a number of women under the title “Open a Book” to focus on the importance of this campaign, with the presentation of a group of books as a gift.
GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Jableh, also implemented several awareness sessions and a handicrafts course. This took place in cooperation with UNHCR.
In Tartous, GOPA-DERD’s “PLACE” Center’s team, implemented an open day activity entitled “Let’s Orange the World” to highlight violence, the importance and how to report cases of harassment. This took place in cooperation with Tearfund.
In turn, GOPA-DERD’s “Hand in Hand” project team, with the participation of a group of adolescents from the Life Skills Course, implemented an initiative entitled “Be” that included a group of purposeful recreational activities, an awareness session and a theatrical performance. This took place in cooperation with UNICEF.
In Homs, and with the aim of raising awareness in the community about the forms of violence against women and girls, and the importance of reducing it, GOPA-DERD’s “Beituna” Center’s team in Wadi al-Nasara, implemented a series of various activities and awareness sessions for more than 240 people of all age groups in a number of villages, in cooperation with NCA.
GOPA-DERD’s “Darb” Center’s team in Homs, organized a singing event presented by a group of the center’s beneficiaries who were brought together by a volunteer initiative to form this choir, with the attendance of 178 women and men in Wadi al-Nasara area. In addition, an exhibition of paintings drawn by a number of beneficiaries, was organized, in cooperation with UNFPA.
On the other hand, GOPA-DERD’s team in Al-Qusayr, Homs, organized an awareness campaign in the city streets, aiming to introduce residents and the local community to the goals of the 16-day campaign, along with some other activities, theatrical performances, awareness sessions and an exhibition of products from women who benefited from the training courses at the center.
GOPA-DERD’s team in Qusayr, also implemented an initiative to install curtains in the Monastery of the Virgin Mary in Josieh, a group of recreational activities and awareness sessions for members of the Iman and Nour families, and awareness sessions for the people of the village of Daherj, which addressed the importance of the role of rural women in society. The activities concluded with an initiative to pick olives with the participation of the people. This took place in cooperation with UNFPA.
In the northeastern region, and in conjunction with the16-day of Activism against Gender-based Violence campaign, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Al-Hawl camp in Hasakah, Al-Mahmoudli camp and Al-Mansoura city in Raqqa, implemented a series of activities that included plays and awareness sessions, in cooperation with UNHCR.
GOPA-DERD’s “Dream” Center’s team in Qamishli, also implemented a dialogue session in cooperation IOCC.
