World Refugee Day ... Humanitarian Activities Embodying the ‎Values of Solidarity and Hope

Every year on June 20th, the world celebrates World Refugee Day, with the aim of highlighting the situation of refugees and promoting efforts to support them and protect their rights.

Based on this, GOPA-DERD’s ‎team, implemented a series of activities and events aimed at raising awareness of refugee issues and emphasizing the importance of providing a safe and supportive environment that preserves their dignity and enables them to build a better future, reflecting the values ​​of human solidarity and social responsibility towards them.

In Latakia, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s ‎team, organized an event‎ at the city’s Arab Cultural Center.

The event‎ included various program that combined art and ‎humanitarian messages. A musical group performed a selection of ‎pieces that created an atmosphere of interaction and joy, as well as ‎inspiring stories of refugee families who overcame the challenges and ‎difficulties they faced during their journey were also shared, serving as ‎living examples of resilience and hope.‎

The event also included an expressive dance performed by a young girl, ‎through which she embodied the feelings and experiences of ‎displacement. In addition, a theatrical performance was presented and ‎addressed the diversity of dialects, conveying a message emphasizing ‎the importance of understanding and cultural rapprochement. ‎

The activities included an exhibition of symbolic artifacts embodying stories of resilience and hope that accompany the refugee journey, an awareness session addressing the most prominent social challenges facing refugees and mechanisms for dealing with them. In addition, a musical performance inspired by local refugee folklore was implemented to reflecting the richness of their cultural heritage and their connection to their roots and identity.

In turn, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Gabagheb, Daraa, conducted a series of recreational and interactive activities for a number of children to foster a spirit of participation. In addition, an awareness and information session was carried out for a number of young women and ladies about refugee rights, and their duties. This took place in cooperation with UNHCR.
