Various activities in conjunction with international days in ‎June

In celebration of some international days during the month of June, GOPA-DERD’s team, implemented a set of various activities and sessions in a number of regions.

 

On the occasion of Global Day of Parents, GOPA-DERD’s Community ‎Center’s team in Al-Datour in Lattakia implemented a recreational ‎activity for a number of children and their mothers in the village of ‎Salib al-Turkman. The activity included handicrafts for the children ‎and an interactive theatre performance. In addition, an awareness ‎session was implemented about parental treatment methods and ‎their impact on the child, self-care, and communication between ‎parents and their children. This took place in cooperation with ‎UNHCR.‎

In a related context, GOPA-DERD’s team in the Kafr Bahm area in ‎Hama, implemented a recreational activity for a number of women, ‎which included a dialogue session on the role of parents and the ‎importance of the family in building society. In addition, personal ‎experiences were shared by the women on the methods and ways ‎through which they can contribute to creating a healthy and effective ‎family.‎

At the end of the session, the team distributed hygiene kits to the ‎participating women, in cooperation with ZOA.‎

 

In celebration of‎ World Environment Day, GOPA-DERD’s team ‎‎implemented various activities in several areas.‎

In Daraa, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Izraa ‎‎implemented a cleaning campaign in the public square with the ‎‎participation of a number of children, which included planting many ‎‎seedlings and trees.‎

GOPA-DERD’s team in Ghabagheb also implemented various ‎‎activities and an awareness session for more than 20 children on the ‎‎concept of renewable energy and the importance of conserving ‎‎water from waste.‎

In Al-‎Haffeh, Lattakia, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s ‎team, implemented a recreational activity for ‎children, ‎which included handicrafts to consolidate the idea of ‎recycling, a ‎section of competitions about the environment, in ‎addition to ‎planting some seedlings and seeds.‎

In turn, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Al-Datour ‎‎implemented a recreational activity for children in the village of Al-‎‎Bahlouliya in Rural Lattakia, which included several sections focusing ‎‎on the importance of some food waste on the soil and environment ‎‎and waste sorting. In addition, some handicrafts were implemented ‎‎through recycling cardboard found in homes and making some ‎‎cuttings for plants and decorating them. This took place in ‎‎cooperation with UNHCR.‎

On the other side, and with the aim of enhancing environmental ‎‎awareness among the local community, GOPA-DERD’s “DARB” ‎‎Center’s team in Deir ez-Zor, implemented a set of activities and ‎‎awareness sessions with the aim of highlighting the importance of ‎‎the environment and its preservation to ensure a more sustainable ‎‎and secure future. In addition, a tree-planting campaign were ‎‎organized by our team in cooperation with the Euphrates Areas ‎‎Association in one of the city’s parks, with the aim of improving the ‎‎environmental landscape and enhancing green spaces. This took ‎‎place in cooperation with UNFPA.‎

Since the play is a basic right for every child and on the occasion of the World Day of Play, GOPA-DERD’s “PEERS” Center’s team carried out a recreational activity for children and an awareness session for parents, in cooperation with Caritas Austria.

Coinciding with the World Day Against Child Labor, GOPA-DERD’s ‎team in As-Sweida, implemented an awareness-raising ‎and recreational activity for more than 33 children and 18 female ‎caregivers, focusing on the concept of child labor, its psychological ‎effects, and how to overcome it. In addition, recreational games ‎were implemented about children rights and the importance of ‎education. The activity concluded with the distribution of stationery ‎to emphasize the importance of education.‎

The team also implemented an awareness session ‎for 15 young women in the village of Maf’ala in Rural As-Sweida, on ‎the concept of labor and exploitation, focusing on the values of ‎education and ways to reduce child labor.‎

In Al-Hasakah, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s ‎team in Al-Hol ‎camp implemented various activities for a number of children, ‎including a football match and the distribution of awareness ‎brochures. This took place in cooperation with UNHCR.‎

In Lattakia, to raise children’s awareness of the importance of ‎education in achieving their professional goals, GOPA-DERD’s ‎Community Center’s team in Jableh implemented several ‎recreational activities, including introducing some professional fields ‎in a simplified and interactive manner.‎

The team also conducted awareness sessions aimed at raising ‎awareness among parents about the dangers of child labor and ‎enabling them to learn about professional alternatives through ‎available free courses.‎

In Al-Haffeh, GOPA-DERD’s team implemented a recreational activity ‎that included a children’s choir, a handicrafts exhibition, and a ‎theatrical performance highlighting child labor.‎

GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Da’tour also ‎implemented various activities aimed at eliminating all forms of child ‎labor and raising community awareness about it.‎

In Daraa, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team, implemented various activities and awareness sessions for a ‎number of adolescents in Izraa, Ghabagheb, and the city, to highlight ‎one of the most serious violations affecting childhood, which ‎deprives children of their most basic rights. This took place in ‎cooperation with UNHCR.‎

On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, GOPA-DERD’s “DARB” ‎Center’s team in Homs implemented a set of ‎recreational activities for more than 22 young women, including an ‎awareness session on blood types and the importance of blood ‎donation, its conditions, and benefits.‎

In Deir ez-Zor, the team organized a blood donation campaign, in ‎which a number of GOPA-DERD’s volunteers participated, affirming ‎their commitment to humanitarian and ethical standards in ‎providing assistance to others. This took place in cooperation with ‎UNFPA.‎

In Latakia, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Al-Datour ‎implemented a recreational and awareness activity for a number of ‎young men and women. The activity included recreational sessions ‎and an awareness session about blood types and the importance of ‎blood donation.‎

The team in Jableh also implemented a blood donation campaign, in ‎which a number of volunteers from GOPA-DERD’s team participated. ‎This took place in cooperation with UNHCR.‎

On the occasion of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, GOPA-DERD’s team ‎in As-Sweida, implemented a recreational activity for a number of elderly chess professionals, to highlighting on their abilities and contributing to integrating their experiences with those of young professionals. In addition, a lecture was implemented on the importance of chess and its basic principles, with the aim of encouraging the younger generation to practice it.

In Daraa, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s ‎team, implemented, a number of awareness sessions in the city, Izra and Ghabagheb, to identify the types of abuse to which the elderly are exposed. In addition, interactive and recreational activities were implemented with the aim of stimulating memory and promoting positive emotions, including traditional songs and old proverbs. Medical examinations were conducted too.

In turn, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s ‎team in Al-Da’tour, Lattakia, implemented an awareness session for young people, including an introduction to the International Day, the types of abuse, and the risk factors to which older people are exposed.

At the end of the session, photos were displayed depicting everyday situations involving the elderly.

The team also conducted a recreational activity at Al-Raha Elderly Home in Lattakia, with the participation of a number of young people who had previously participated in the awareness session. The activity included various segments, in cooperation with UNHCR.

The team also implemented a various activities, on the occasion of World Refugee Day.‎

In Daraa, to raise awareness about refugee issues and challenges, ‎GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team implemented a set of ‎recreational activities and awareness sessions for more than 20 ‎people, included a legal session in cooperation with local ‎organizations, writing letters of support and love for refugees, and ‎planting several trees in a public park.‎

In Izraa and Ghabagheb, the team organized recreational activities ‎and a dialogue session for more than 48 returning women, during ‎which they discussed refugee rights.‎

In Lattakia, under the slogan “Solidarity with Refugees,” GOPA-‎DERD’s Community Center’s team in Da’tour organized a celebration ‎on the occasion of World Refugee Day, with the participation of a ‎delegation from UNHCR and families from various countries residing ‎in Syria. The celebration included several activities, a set of ‎competitive and musical games, a video presentation about the ‎celebration preparations, and clips from previous celebrations. At the ‎end, participating families were photographed, and souvenirs made ‎by GOPA-DERD’s volunteers were distributed.‎

In turn, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in al-Hol camp in Al-‎Hasakah, organized various activities, including plays and a dialogue ‎session on how to help refugees.‎

In Al-Tabqa city in Raqqa, the team conducted an awareness session ‎on ways to help them access public services, avoid risks, and ‎contribute to building a more stable future. This took place in ‎cooperation with UNHCR.‎
