Various activities in conjunction with international days in March
On the occasion of International Day of Happiness, GOPA-DERD’s “LIFE” Center’s team in Al-Sqelbiyah, Hama, in cooperation with Caritas Switzerland, implemented various activities that included recreational and purposeful segments for children, with the aim of promoting happiness and encouraging them to express positive feelings.
GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Daraa, also implemented a recreational activity and an awareness session for more than 20 women, which included distributing motivational messages. This took place in cooperation with UNHCR.
On the occasion of World Down Syndrome Day and Mother’s Day, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Daraa, implemented a recreational activity for 17 children with Down syndrome, along with their caregivers.
On the occasion of Mother’s and Teacher’s Day, the team in Daraa implemented a series of handicraft activities and dialogue sessions for more than 15 women, about the difficulties they face and how to deal with them.
GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Ghabagheb, Daraa, also implemented recreational activities and movement competitions for more than 20 women in appreciation of their efforts as mothers.
In Izraa, the team conducted several field visits to homes of children with Down Syndrome. The team also organized recreational activities for more 15 women on the occasion of Mother’s Day. This took place in cooperation with UNHCR.
In Damascus, as part of the Memorandum of Understanding between GOPA-DERD and the University of Damascus, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Dweilah implemented a diverse activity for more than 150 children in the university kindergarten on the occasion of Mother’s and Teacher’s Day. The activity concluded with the distribution of gifts to the children and teachers.
Under the title “Love Footprint”, the team in Damascus organized a recreational activity on the occasion of World Down Syndrome Day and Mother’s Day, for a number of children with Down Syndrome and their mothers. The activity included handicrafts and various activities, in addition field visit to the vegetable market in the Tabala area, were carried out, during which the children presented flowers they had made to the working mothers in the market.
In Sweida, coinciding with Mother’s Day, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team implemented a recreational and interactive activity for 23 women who support their families in the eastern rural area. The activity highlighted the effective role of mothers.
The team also implemented an activity for children with Down Syndrome, along with their siblings. The activity included movement and awareness stations.
In Aleppo, GOPA-DERD’s “SPACE” Center’s team in the Qadi Askar area organized a recreational activity for mothers on the occasion of Mother’s Day. Participating mothers were honored in the presence of their children. This took place in cooperation with DKH.
