Towards a more effective humanitarian response: A workshop to strengthen the foundations of collective accountability
GOPA-DERD, CHS Alliance, Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB), Sphere Focal Point MENA region, and with the support of H2H Fund Activation Initiative in Syria, conducted the first workshop within the project “Strengthening the Foundations of Collective Accountability”.
The first workshop included 18 international organizations, UN agencies, and local CSOs working in the humanitarian sector in the governorates of Damascus, Rural Damascus, Daraa, and As-Suwayda, while the second workshop included representatives from 20 organizations working in the humanitarian sector in Syria, covering Aleppo, Idlib, Hama, and some organizations located in Gaziantep, Turkey.
The sessions within the two workshops focused on reviewing international frameworks and standards related to quality and humanitarian accountability, analyzing the operational challenges organizations face in implementing them. In addition, opportunities were discussed to enhance coordination and integration among actors at the national level.
This workshop also underscores the partners’ commitment to developing the capacities of humanitarian organizations and promoting accountability and transparency in their work practices. It contributes to improving the quality of humanitarian response and enhancing its impact on crisis-affected communities in Syria.
