GOPA-DERD’s team inaugurated “Al-Thawra” Secondary School for Boys in Babbila, Rural Damascus, following the completion of its full rehabilitation, restoration, and equipping project, supported by the Syria Humanitarian Fund (SHF).

The inauguration was attended by Eng. Mohammad Hannoun Director of the School Buildings Department at the Ministry of Education; Mr. Khaled Tayfour Deputy Director of Education in Rural Damascus for Educational Affairs; Mr. Ahmad Al-Rahil Director of the Al-Kiswah and South Damascus District; Eng. Mohammad Antar Head of the Babbila Municipality; Mr. Firas Al-Rifai, Municipal Council Member and Organizations Coordinator; alongside representatives from the Local Development Committee in Babbila, the school’s teaching staff, and several local residents.

Accompanied by the GOPA-DERD team, the attendees toured the school buildings, classrooms, administrative offices, and laboratories to review the restoration and rehabilitation work carried out across the school’s two blocks, discussing the project’s implementation stages and commending the high quality of implementation, in accordance with the highest standards.

GOPA-DERD’s team had implemented the school’s restoration and rehabilitation in two phases: the first phase encompassed finishing works, carpentry, metalwork, electrical installations, and aluminum work, as well as the rehabilitation of sports facilities, including the maintenance of the basketball court, the construction of new football pitches, garden cleanups, tree planting, and the provision of waste bins across the schoolyards.

The second phase focused on equipping and furnishing the classrooms, administrative offices, and the library with appropriate furniture.

This project aims to provide a safe and comprehensive educational environment that enables students to continue their education under improved conditions, especially as “Al-Thawra” School is the only secondary school for boys in the town.
