From Giving to Impact... Initiatives reaffirming the commitment to supporting communities, coinciding with World Humanitarian Day.
Humanitarian action represents a steadfast commitment to standing alongside communities and individuals in times of crisis, responding to their needs in ways that uphold their dignity and strengthen their resilience and capacity to recover.
On World Humanitarian Day, observed annually on 19 August, the importance of this commitment is reaffirmed, recognizing the efforts of humanitarian workers and the vital role of humanitarian initiatives in creating a tangible and lasting impact on people’s lives.
Based on the slogan of faith in actions, GOPA-DERD’s team, continues providing support to communities across the entire Syrian territory, and on World Humanitarian Day, our team reaffirmed this commitment through various activities.
GOPA-DERD’s team in Latakia, in conjunction with World Humanitarian Day, organized a volunteer initiative to clean the area surrounding Salah Al-din Castle in Al-Haffah, with the participation of a number of volunteers and outreach team.
The initiative involved removing dry and flammable weed and vegetation from the castle’s perimeter, thus reducing the risk of fires, preserving the archaeological site and its surroundings.
The initiative also aimed to highlight the importance of protecting historical and natural heritage, raise awareness among local communities about their role in preserving these sites, and reinforce the concept of humanitarian work as an effort that extends beyond responding to human needs to include protecting the environment and heritage and safeguarding the foundations of life for future generations.
Emphasizing the values of giving and human development, and on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, GOPA-DERD’s “SPACE” Center’s team in Deir ez-Zor, implemented a number of various and purposeful activities, in cooperation with DKH and the Governorate’s Directorate of Culture.
The event was attended by the Director of Social Affairs and Labor, the Director of the Cultural Center, and several representatives of local associations and organizations in Deir ez-Zor.
The activities included introductory sessions and presentations of inspiring success stories born from humanitarian initiatives, along with various entertaining and interactive segments that created a positive atmosphere.
