In conjunction with World Down Syndrome Day and Mother's Day... various activities and sessions in several areas.
March 21st of each year carries the mark of love and giving, as it coincides with World Down Syndrome Day and Mother’s Day. On these occasions, GOPA-DERD’s team, implemented a series of activities in several areas.
In Latakia, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team, implemented various activity for a number of children with Down Syndrome and their mothers.
The activity included a set of purposeful activities that enhance emotional and social communication. In addition, a storyteller segment was carried out and presented enjoyable and meaningful stories in an interactive style.
At the end of the activity, the team presented a musical performance that added an atmosphere of joy and vitality.
Emphasizing the importance of social inclusion and enhancing children’s abilities, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Daraa, implemented a special activity for more than 20 children with Down syndrome and their caregivers.
The activity included writing greeting cards for mothers in celebration of Mother’s Day, coloring various artworks. In addition, a set of physical activities were carried out. This took place in cooperation with UNHCR.
GOPA-DERD’s “SPACE” Center’s team in Deir ez-Zor, organized a series of recreational and various activities for a number of children with Down syndrome, with the aim of bringing joy to their hearts and promoting their integration into society.
The team also carried out a number of awareness sessions that were directed to the children’s parents, and included a scientific explanation of the proper methods of dealing with children with Down syndrome, and a review of the latest practical methods that contribute to enhancing their education, guidance and development of their perception. A group of specialized videos that support these concepts were also shown.
In turn, GOPA-DERD’s “SPACE” Center’s teams in Aleppo, organized a special activity for a number of children, included a discussion about the importance of mothers and their immense role in giving, as well as a craft activity where the children made clay roses and attached greeting cards filled with heartfelt words to present to their mothers.
The team also conducted a various activity for mothers, in appreciation of their efforts in building families and thanking them for their boundless contributions. This took place in cooperation with DKH.
