On International Day of Older Persons...various activities in most regions
On the occasion of International Day of Older Persons, GOPA-DERD’s team implemented a number of recreational activities and awareness sessions in various areas.
In Rural Damascus, GOPA-DERD’s “LIGHTS” Center’s team in Arbin, in cooperation with Filantropia, implemented an outdoor activity for more than 47 elderly people within the Mar Mansour Monastery for the Care of the Elderly and the Disabled in Saydnaya.
The activity included a health awareness session, a theatrical performance. In addition, a musical segment and recreational games suitable for the ages of the participants were implemented.
In Aleppo, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Al-Sheikh Khuder, implemented a recreational activity for a number of elderly people, which included a group of recreational and physical activities that depend on memory.
GOPA-DERD’s “SPACE” Center’s team also organized field visits to a number of elderly people in the areas of Hareitan and Kafr Hamra to greet them and present them with some souvenirs. This took place in cooperation with DKH.
In As-Suwayda, more than 15 elderly people responded to the invitation of GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team to attend a recreational activity on the occasion of International Day of Older Persons, which included highlighting the importance of their role, and a set of diverse activities that focus on positive experiences.
In Latakia, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team, implemented a recreational activity for the elderly, which included several stages, including an awareness session on self-care and an interactive theater. In addition, a set of recreational activities were implemented.
In Al-Haffa, GOPA-DERD team carried out a recreational activity for the elderly, which included an awareness session on mindfulness, and a set of handicraft activities during which ceramic shapes were made.
GOPA-DERD team in Jableh also implemented a set of recreational activities, including a photo exhibition during the elderly club that was implemented at GOPA-DERD’s Community Center, and activities of a heritage nature.
In Daraa, with the aim of raising awareness among people about the issues of the elderly and appreciating their contributions and achievements, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Izraa and Ghabagheb implemented a group of recreational activities and awareness sessions for more than 70 men and women.
GOPA-DERD’s “Beituna” Center’s team, in cooperation with NCA, also implemented various activities for more than 100 people, including a heritage activity and medical sessions.
In a related context, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in the areas of Tabqa and Al-Mansoura in Ar-Raqqa, and Al-Haol camp in Al-Hasaka, implemented a set of various recreational and awareness activities.
