Humanitarian response continues in both Sweida and Daraa.
GOPA-DERD’s team continues to provide the necessary support to affected and displaced families in As-Sweida, where the team organized a free medical in the village of Maf‘alah in the rural area of the governorate, for more than 115 beneficiaries from displaced and affected families of different age groups, with the participation of more than 10 doctors from different medical specialties.
GOPA-DERD’s team, in cooperation with the Samaritan’s Purse, also distributed diversified assistance packages to 7,500 families, with an average of six packages per family. The assistance included food items, health and hygiene supplies, winter kits, and heating supplies.
In addition, more than over 2,000 food kits in Qraya town and As-Sweida city to affected families and those displaced from the northern and western villages.
More than 10,000 water tankers were also secured in the city of As-Sweida as well as in the cities of Salkhad and Shahba and their surrounding villages. This effort has helped meet the needs of over 10,000 families suffering from water outages in their neighborhoods due to damage to the main water networks. The distribution has reached approximately 50,000 cubic meters, covering the essential water needs amid the ongoing crisis.
In turn, GOPA-DERD’s team distributed more than 730 winter kits to displaced families returning to the village of Um Al-Zaytoun, in order to meet their basic needs during the winter season.
The team also provided 185 lighting units to families whose homes were damaged, with the aim of improving living conditions and easing their burdens. This took place in cooperation with UNHCR.
In a related context, in cooperation with Oxfam, GOPA-DERD’s team distributed approximately 6,600 liters of diesel fuel, 150 tons of flour, and 50 cartons of yeast to bakeries in the governorate, ensuring their continued operation. In addition, more than 750 elderly and baby diaper bags to 375 families were distributed.
The team also distributed hygiene kits, including cleaning tools and materials, to 24 shelter centers in As-Sweida city and in the towns of Salkhad, Shahba, Ateel, Murduk, Masad, and Al-Kafr.
During the response period, GOPA-DERD’s team in As-Sweida, had previously distributed 3,000 health kits to displaced families in the cities of Shahba and As-Sweda.
GOPA-DERD’s team, continues to expand its humanitarian response to meet the needs of families affected and displaced to Daraa . The team distributed health kits and other essential supplies in the villages of Izraa, Busr al-Harir, Sheikh Miskeen, Muhajja, Khabab, Jbab, Namir, Alma and Atman in the rural of Daraa.
