Various activities implemented by GOPA-DERD’s team coinciding with International Days on March

GOPA-DERD’s team celebrated a number of international days during March, by implementing a set of a recreational activities and various physical games.

Since “Happiness is a right for every human being, and our mission is to achieve it for ourselves and others” – and on the occasion of International Day of Happiness, GOPA-DERD’s team implemented a set of activities in a number of governorates.

In Latakia, GOPA-DERD’s “Hand-in-Hand” project’s team implemented a recreational activity for adolescents that included introductory games about happiness hormones, in cooperation with UNICEF.

In Homs, GOPA-DERD’s “Darb” Center’s team implemented an open-day activity for a group of young people with the aim of highlighting the meaning of happiness, where an explanatory video was shown. In addition, many different activities were implemented. In conclusion, the participants wrote a set of positive phrases and distributed them to the passersby in the streets of the city. This took place in cooperation with UNFPA.

In turn, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Al-Hol camp in Al-Hasakah carried out awareness-raising and recreational activities, which included a dialogue on the concept of happiness.

 

And coinciding with World Down Syndrome Day and Mother’s Day, GOPA-DERD’s team implemented various activities and campaigns in most Syrian governorates.

In As-Suwayda, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team celebrated these two occasions with a popular and official presence. The celebration included a theatrical performance and singing performances presented by the “Be You” choir, which brought together women of all ages with children in the city’s Palace of Culture Theater.

In Daraa, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team implemented recreational activities and handicrafts for more than 30 children with down syndrome and their caregivers.

In Tartous, GOPA-DERD’s “Hand-in-Hand” project team implemented various interactive and recreational activities for children with down syndrome on the occasion of their International Day and Mother’s Day, in cooperation with UNICEF.

GOPA-DERD’s “Hand-in-Hand” project team in Latakia also implemented a recreational activity for children with down syndrome, which included acting and singing segments, and greeting phrases presented by the children to the families.

In turn, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Latakia presented a set of activities on the occasion of World Down Syndrome Day, which varied between recreational activities for children, an interactive theatre, an awareness session for parents, and a singing show in which the children participated with their families. GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Al-Haffa also carried out a recreational activity for children with down syndrome and their mothers, which included various activities and souvenir photos.

In Homs, GOPA-DERD’s “Darb” Center’s team invited a group of mothers to attend a musical evening on the occasion of Mother’s Day, in cooperation with UNFPA.

In Hama, GOPA-DERD’s “CARMA” Center’s team in Soran presented an awareness session on the occasion of Mother’s Day in the presence of 25 women, which included a group of activities, in cooperation with Caritas Austria.

GOPA-DERD’s “CARMA” Center’s team also presented various recreational activities and a theatrical performance in Al-Mayadeen in Deir ez-Zour to celebrate mothers.

In Al-Hol camp in Al-Hasakah, GOPA-DERD team implemented various recreational and awareness-raising activities to celebrate Mother’s Day and World Down Syndrome Day.

In Damascus and its countryside, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Al-Dwelaa implemented various recreational activities for children with down syndrome and their mothers. GOPA-DERD team in Jdaidet Artouz also provided various activities for caregivers and children with special needs in the Al-Safinah Association, which included handicrafts, a singing segment, and physical activities.

In Aleppo, on the occasion of Mother’s Day, GOPA-DERD’s Community Center’s team in Sheikh Khidr provided various activities for mothers and their children, which included games and competitions, a video presentation, and a greeting card.
